Rosemary Alvaro, Ph.D.

Registered Psychologist

Dr. Alvaro is a member of the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (CPBC #585). She has a Ph.D. in Clinical /Counselling Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago (1980). Since 1982 she has been employed as a Rehabilitation Psychologist at WorkSafe BC, where her work has focused on adaptation to physical and psychological injury for injured workers. She has consulted in clinics treating individuals with amputations, hand injuries, chronic pain, and sexual assault in the workplace.

Professional interests include treatment of PTSD, complicated grief, positive psychology and psychology and religion. Besides employment at WorkSafe BC, she has had a 25 year private practice offering treatment and assessment for anxiety and mood disorders. She is a member of the BC Psychological Association, Canadian Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. She has also obtained professional qualification for the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (CPQ) and a Certificate of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and Other Psychoactive Drugs (APA-CPP).
